Project Location: Ada District Hospital, Ghana

Project Type: Medical/Nursing

This project is specifically aimed for qualified medical professionals, or students looking to gain experience. The placement consists of working alongside a team of professionals in the Ada District Hospital located near Ada Foah in Ghana. It offers volunteers the chance to gain a wider perspective on the healthcare scenario in a developing country. It is a great opportunity for pre med/nursing students looking for an international hands on experience to expand their knowledge . It also allows health care professionals in western countries to value the resources and centres in which they work or train in.

Volunteers will be dividing their time between the hospital placement and Maranatha School, where they will educate the children on the basics of healthcare. This includes, hygiene, nutrition and the importance of basic health education. The aim of this programme is also to allow the students to get a feel on what Nursing / Medicine is really like in aims to some day further their studies in this area.

What is included?

Airport pickups and transfers on day one of your project.

All food whilst on project site 3 meals a day (5 days a week).

All accommodation whilst on project site (7 days a week).

Constant supply of treated drinking water.

24 hour support from the HelpmelearnAfrica team and project leaders.

All project preparation including, community consultation, risk assessment and logistical set-up.

Detailed online pre-departure information such as: guidelines and support for visa applications, flights, insurance, thsirts, cultural awareness, language etc.

First-aid kits and first-aid trained staff on each project location.
